ORACLE APEX - Form Pagination

Oracle Application Express – form pagination provides you an easy way to navigate data in your application. Pagination process checks the master table to determine which set of detail records you are in and determines what the previous/ next detail record should be.

Before we start doing pagination, I would like to give you a gist of my application.
I had created an application which shows details of Books. When user selects specific ISBN#, relevant book details would be shown to him.
In order to avoid the selection of ISBN, I came up with Form Pagination; the idea is users just need to click the button (next and previous) to see all book details.

Pagination gives users two buttons. One to navigate previous data and other for next data.

Follow the below steps to incorporate Form Pagination in an application:

1. Create a Process under Page-rendering.

2. Select Form pagination option and click next button

3. Select Table owner (schema) and click next button

4. Select Table name and click Next button

5. Select the Primary key column value of your table and click next button

6. Select the region to include navigation and click Create Process

7. Once you create process

• Tool generates two button items <Previous and Next >
• Generates 3 Items namely _PREV,
  _NEXT and _COUNT. You can write code, specific to your requirement in Item Source attribute.Also generates two Before Computation Branches.

8. Run the application.
